Dr. Chad Maki

Dr. Chad Maki is an experienced veterinary practitioner who has faithfully served our community for over a decade. He believes in providing the utmost medical care for his patients and strives to deliver the best client experience for families. He looks forward to serving you in his brand new, family-owned veterinary hospital, and enriching the lives of your pets through better health.
Though he has many interests in the veterinary field, such as dentistry, dermatology, and cardiology, Dr. Maki’s primary focus is ensuring your pet’s health through preventative care and effective medical treatments. His aim is to further strengthen the human-animal bond by keeping pets happy and healthy because, as he says, “If our pets are happy, then we are happy!”
Dr. Maki has had a decorated career in the veterinary field. He helped start a dental-focused practice for pets, and has served as Medical Director at pet hospitals in both Irvine and Huntington Beach. He previously served as Chief Medical Officer at two stem cell therapeutic companies, and is published in numerous peer-reviewed scientific journals related to his research.
Dr. Maki earned his undergraduate degree from University of California, Berkeley, and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies at The University of Edinburgh, Scotland. After graduation, Dr. Maki and his wife moved back to his hometown of Huntington Beach, where they are now raising their two sons.
He has had many pets over the years including dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, birds, guinea pigs, snakes, millipedes, and more! After sadly losing their beloved 18-year-old dog, Ava, his family has recently adopted a new rescue pup, Abby. The Makis also have a crested gecko named Crestie that gets daily love and care from the family.
In his free time, Dr. Maki enjoys running, backpacking, snowboarding, hiking, camping, and all sports. He and his wife spend most days attending and coaching their boys’ sporting activities or having fun family adventures.
Dr. Maki is proud to launch Ranch Heights Veterinary with his colleague and friend, Dr. Rob Harner. Together they make a dynamic team ready to bring high-quality medicine to the community. Local families have many choices for pet care, and Dr. Maki looks forward to earning your trust at each and every visit.
